NxtGen, an Indian cloud and AI infrastructure provider, has launched ‘M’, an open-source AI platform designed to turn human instructions into real-world actions. Positioned as India’s answer to ChatGPT, ‘M’ runs entirely on Indian infrastructure and invites organisations of all sizes to collaborate by offering real-life use cases for its users.
The company says ‘M’ can help people with everyday tasks such as booking a doctor’s appointment, ordering food, buying movie tickets or triggering business processes, all through simple voice or text commands.
“With ‘M’, we’re proving that open source and agentic AI can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with any frontier closed-source model,” Rajgopal AS, MD and CEO of NxtGen, said.
Unlike closed AI systems, ‘M’ uses a mix of the best open-source models, including Llama 4 and DeepSeek 671B, to select the right tool for each task. It is built on NxtGen’s NVIDIA H200-powered infrastructure, which the company says can handle large-scale use while protecting data and ensuring speed.
Named after the first sound most humans often make, ‘M’ symbolises a starting point for intelligence and connection. It is multilingual by default, aimed at both Indian and global users, and focuses on action rather than just conversation.
NxtGen describes ‘M’ as a secure, sovereign alternative that keeps data within India, supports innovation and encourages long-term technological self-reliance. The platform is already available in beta for download on Android and iOS.
