Kaynes Semicon Partners with Emerson for its Semiconductor Testing Facilities Across India

The solution enables multi-site execution and reuse of instruments, reducing redundancy and improving workflow efficiency.

Kaynes Semicon, Kaynes Technology’s semiconductor arm, which focuses on outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facilities, chip packaging and design centres, has partnered with Emerson to deploy Emerson’s NI Semiconductor Test System (STS) across its facilities in India.

The system will become the company’s preferred platform for testing analogue, mixed-signal, RF, power and MEMS devices. The move will standardise test infrastructure, speed up production and shorten time-to-market for Kaynes Semicon.

The company said the decision supports its plan to become a leading Test-as-a-Service provider in the global semiconductor industry. This comes a few months after Kaynes Semicon announced its expansion in Oman, which aimed to train 80 to 100 students annually in advanced VLSI design technologies.

Strengthen Testing Capability

“We are pleased to partner with Emerson to advance our semiconductor testing capabilities,” Raghu Panicker, CEO of Kaynes Semicon, said. “As we scale our operations and extend our global footprint, Emerson’s NI STS platform will provide the modularity, speed and reliability we need to deliver consistent, high-quality test outcomes for our customers.”

In a previous exclusive interaction with AIM, Panicker said that Kaynes is currently in talks with five Taiwanese firms for assembly, testing and packaging partnerships. “The question is no longer if they’ll come, but when,” he had said.

Emerson said the NI STS platform offers a compact design and integration with LabVIEW and TestStand software. The solution also enables multi-site execution and reuse of instruments, reducing redundancy and improving workflow efficiency.

India’s Growing Semiconductor Ecosystem

Emerson noted that its support network in India, including field engineers and training resources, will help ensure a smooth implementation. The company said the NI STS delivers test speeds up to 10 times faster, which can lower capital costs and enable scalable production for India’s semiconductor industry.

“Our collaboration with Kaynes reflects the growing demand for scalable and efficient semiconductor testing in India,” said Shitendra Bhattacharya, country head for test and measurement at Emerson India. “Our NI STS platform is uniquely suited to support Kaynes’ growth ambitions.”

In a significant boost to Madhya Pradesh’s electronics manufacturing plans, Kaynes also announced a ₹352 crore investment on July 13 to set up a new factory at the Badwai IT Park in Bhopal.
