Cloudflare has announced plans to hire 1,111 interns in 2026 as part of its ‘Intern-et’ programme, aimed at preparing students to become future technology leaders. The move comes at a time when entry-level opportunities in tech are shrinking due to AI-driven shifts in the job market.

The company will offer internships across hubs in Austin, San Francisco, New York, Bengaluru, Lisbon and London, where students will work on real projects impacting millions of internet users. The internship intake, mirroring Cloudflare’s public DNS resolver, 1.1.1.1, can be explored further through its careers page. The roles include opportunities in Engineering, Product Management, Research, Marketing, Business and more.

Cloudflare is also rolling out new initiatives to support students and startups. US university students with a valid .edu email will receive one year of free access to Cloudflare Workers, its serverless application platform. Beginning January 2026, select startups will also be able to work from Cloudflare offices on certain days to collaborate with teams and peers.

The company highlighted that its startup programme has already provided over $370 million in credits to more than 4,000 startups in the past year, with participating firms raising over $5 billion in funding.

“We founded Cloudflare during a financial crisis and doubled our intern numbers during the pandemic when other companies were cutting back,” said Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, in a statement. “Now, when getting a job out of school has never been harder, we’re leaning in and offering a training ground for the next generation.”

Cloudflare’s initiatives come at a time when studies show a decline of up to 13% in employment among young workers in roles most exposed to AI, alongside a 30% drop in tech-specific internship postings since 2023.

Considering the company has been making various interesting moves, this adds up to the brochure.
