Vodafone Idea (Vi) has joined hands with IBM to use AI and automation to improve its operations, speed up digital services and enhance customer experience.
As part of the deal, the two companies have set up an AI Innovation Hub. The hub will bring together experts from both companies to create AI-driven tools, automation solutions and digital products. It will also work with Vi’s newly unified DevOps team to make software development faster and more efficient.
“The AI Innovation Hub will play a critical role in modernising our operations and expediting our go-to-market execution of critical business initiatives through faster software development cycles, setting new benchmarks for the telecom industry,” Jagbir Singh, CTO at Vodafone Idea, said.
IBM said the move comes at a time when India’s telecom sector is expanding rapidly with rising data use and 5G rollouts. “In this dynamic landscape, our collaboration with Vi allows IBM to serve as a strategic enabler to help modernise the organisation’s IT ecosystem, enhance operational efficiencies and fast-track their digital transformation,” Juhi McClelland, managing partner for IBM Consulting in Asia Pacific, said.
The two companies have been partners for more than 17 years. “Our recent collaboration with Vi marks a significant step in redefining how AI and automation can transform telecom operations at scale,” Rishi Aurora, managing partner at IBM Consulting India South Asia, said.
