Esri India and Hyderabad-based Dhruva Space have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate satellite imagery with Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. The collaboration will merge Dhruva Space’s AstraView satellite imagery service with Esri India’s ArcGIS platform, providing easier access to data from more than 200 satellites.
The agreement was formalised at the Hyderabad leg of Esri India User Conference 2025 this month. It aims to improve the use of space-based data in fields such as urban planning, disaster management, agriculture, and infrastructure. Customers will be able to analyse and interpret satellite data directly within GIS workflows.
Esri India aims to empower decision-makers across industries with timely, high-quality geospatial insights, said its managing director Agendra Kumar. “Together, we are creating a robust framework to drive data-driven governance and sustainable growth for the nation.”
He added that this initiative will help accelerate the adoption of space-based data in areas such as urban planning, disaster management, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
Supporting National Initiatives
The companies stated that the collaboration will support India’s efforts in geospatial intelligence and space technology. The integration is expected to improve decision-making and resilience while promoting self-reliance in geospatial solutions.
Krishna Teja Penamakuru, COO and co-founder of Dhruva Space, said, “AstraView was launched to make diverse and trusted satellite imagery simple to access and practical to use. Partnering with Esri India ensures these capabilities are extended into a platform already trusted by millions of users.”
He emphasised that this integration will make relevant imagery and data more accessible within GIS workflows, where the combination of imagery and analytics allows users to interpret and act on data with greater clarity.
Dhruva intends to move satellite data from the background and place it at the core of everyday decision-making, ultimately improving how organisations plan, respond, and build resilience.
