Sahamati Labs, the innovation arm of the Account Aggregator (AA) industry alliance, has partnered with Google Cloud India to embed AI into the AA framework. The collaboration marks the launch of an AI Centre of Excellence aimed at setting a global benchmark for financial inclusion.
The centre will focus on scaling inclusion through Indic language tools, embedding trust with fraud and identity safeguards, and boosting efficiency to make financial services faster and cheaper.
“At Google Cloud, we believe technology should be inclusive. By bringing our AI into India’s Account Aggregator framework, we are helping make financial services safer, more accessible, creating a model that can inspire financial ecosystems worldwide,” Sashi Sreedharan, managing director of Google Cloud India, said.
The partnership will use generative AI to build predictive insights, personalised recommendations, and fraud detection systems. It will also leverage Google Cloud’s privacy-preserving technologies to protect sensitive financial transactions.
A key focus will be multilingual access, with Google Cloud enabling speech-to-text and text-to-speech features in multiple Indian languages to break literacy and language barriers.
The AA framework, seen as India’s next big digital infrastructure after UPI and Aadhaar, already supports consent-based data sharing for over 2.12 billion accounts.
“Its success depends on trust, inclusion, and innovation. By embedding AI at its core with Google Cloud, we are setting the stage for India to once again define a new global benchmark, this time for financial inclusion at scale,” BG Mahesh, chief executive of Sahamati said.
The companies said India aims to make the AA network the world’s strongest example of how AI and digital public goods can combine to transform finance, giving every citizen, regardless of language, literacy, or location, access to the digital economy.
